Riding Safely
Safety should always be a high priority when riding a bike since you cannot depend on drivers to always be looking out for you. First of all, make sure that you are wearing protective gear such as a helmet and elbow pads, knee pads and even wrist guards if possible. If you are riding your bike at night, make sure that you are visible, which may mean using a light or reflector so that cars are able to see you clearly. Ride in the bike lane if there is one, but do not rely on cars to avoid you just because you are not in their lane. When you approach an intersection, look around you before crossing or while you are waiting at a stoplight. If you are waiting to the side, keep in mind that a car may turn into your lane without recognizing that you are there, so be on guard and try to make sure that they see you.
