Want to Avoid a Crash? Slow Down!

Approximately one month ago, I was on my way home from work and was coming down a state highway towards the traffic control light. I was the last vehicle in a long line of traffic to turn left into a turning lane. Having previously been rear-ended in the past, I was very mindful that often drivers are distracted and not paying attention as to stopped vehicles in front of them. I started tapping my brakes and I noticed a motorist coming down a hill traveling at a high rate of speed. You know the rest the story: Unfortunately, I was struck by this motorist in the back portion of my truck.

Fortunately, physically, I was fine and not injured, but my truck sustained over $2,900 in damage. Further, I ended up finding out that the individual who hit me did not have car insurance at the time of the wreck.

Moral of the story: slow down! Second moral to the story: carry auto insurance! It is required in most states, and most definitely in the state of Indiana.

How many times do we see motorists traveling at high rates of speed for no purpose at all? I would encourage each of you to take a little bit more time to be more careful on the road so that we make the roadways a safer place and hopefully, less people getting injured.
